Valve Stem Foundry in China
As a professional investment casting foundry in China, we are committed to providing you with OEM custom, fully machined investment-cast valve stems made of 304/316L (CF8/CF3M) stainless steel that offer high precision, high mechanical strength, corrosion resistance, and resistance to deformation and cracking. Over the past 27 years, we have established long-term, stable partnerships with nine companies, achieving an annual output value of $8 million.
We have also helped numerous clients resolve valve stem issues. For example, by optimizing the gating system, we prevent porosity and shrinkage in the valve stems from the source. We also use specialized heat-treatment, impact testing, and tensile testing to ensure that the valve stems have uniform hardness and excellent mechanical properties, making them less prone to fracture during operation.

Valve Stems We Make

Typically designed with an anti-blowout shoulder and double-D drive grooves, it can withstand high opening torque.

Most feature a slender design with precision-rolled Acme trapezoidal threads, utilizing threaded bottoms for non-rising stems.

Most are lifting mechanisms featuring precision trapezoidal threads, built to withstand extreme axial clamping forces.
Why do you need Valve Stems made from 304/316L stainless steel?

Valve stems must move repeatedly at the interface between the corrosive medium and air. The passivation film on the stainless steel surface protects the valve stem from corrosion, and 316L further enhances its resistance to pitting and intergranular corrosion.

Both 304 and 316L are austenitic stainless steels; their face-centered cubic crystal structure ensures that valve stems made from these are free from cold brittleness and can maintain high impact toughness even in cryogenic environments as low as -196°C.

304 and 316L exhibit exceptional resistance to high-temperature oxidation; valve stems made from these grades can maintain good mechanical strength, oxidation resistance, and creep limits even at 400–800°C and are not prone to permanent deformation.

The extremely high toughness of 304 and 316L allows valve stems made from these materials to undergo slight deformation under high impact forces. Furthermore, when subjected to excessive torque, they undergo plastic deformation rather than breaking instantly.
Standard Material Control
Changes in the composition of stainless steel directly affect the properties of valve stems. For example, the molybdenum contained in 316L steel is essential for preventing the valve stem from corroding in a seawater environment, and the chromium in 304 and 316L stainless steel castings is essential for forming a surface passivation film. To ensure the standard material, we provide spectrometers to strictly control elemental composition, ensuring that valve stems made of 304/316L maintain a dense oxide film. This significantly prevents the valve stem from galling due to flaking oxide scale, ensuring smooth valve operation and reducing substantial maintenance costs.

Precision Geometric Control
The dimensional accuracy of the valve stem is critical to the valve’s smooth operation. If the valve stem becomes deformed during investment casting processes, such as cooling, shell removal, or heat treatment, it will result in leaks and seizing during operation. We offer HEXAGON coordinate measuring machines to ensure that the coaxiality and straightness of valve stems are maintained with extremely high precision. Moreover, we use grinding to control the surface roughness of the valve stem’s sealing section to Ra ≤ 0.4 μm, guaranteeing that your valve stems will not develop gaps or cause media leaks during operation due to dimensional issues.
Mechanical Property Testing
Valve stems must withstand high torque and high pressure during operation. If the casting mechanical properties do not meet standards, the valve stem may fracture during operation due to its inability to withstand the impact forces. We conduct tensile and impact tests to ensure mechanical properties meet standards, enabling the valve stem to maintain toughness during high-pressure water-hammer impacts. We also perform non-destructive testing to ensure the valve stem is free of internal porosity and shrinkage, thereby reducing the risk of torsional fracture caused by these casting defects. Ensuring the valve stem’s mechanical properties helps prevent catastrophic failures during valve operation, which could lead to project delays and significant financial losses.

Certified to Meet Global Standards for High-Pressure Equipment

Your Reliable Manufacturing Partner for Valve Stem
With 27 years of precision investment casting experience, 18 years of precision CNC machining experience, and 11 years of mold development experience, we have comprehensive casting capabilities, including customizing valve stems to your specific designs, such as Acme thread, anti-blowout stem design, and the design of the conical sealing surface in the middle or top section of the globe valve stem.
Moreover, as a one-stop foundry, we can provide you with high-quality valve stems. For the near-net-shape properties of investment casting, structures such as the anti-blowout shoulder at the base of the complex valve stem and the double-D groove at the top can be cast directly, eliminating the need for additional welding and significantly reducing the probability of intergranular corrosion on the surface. Furthermore, these properties allow grain growth to follow the valve stem’s contour freely during cooling. This significantly enhances the fatigue life, torsional strength, and tensile strength of high-stress areas, such as the keyway at the top of the valve stem, making your valve stem castings less prone to fracture.
Diverse Applications for Stainless Steel Valve Stem

In the chemical industry, where corrosive media are prevalent, valve stems made of ordinary carbon steel will rust rapidly, causing the stem surface to become uneven. Our stainless steel valve stems feature a dense passivation layer on their surface that effectively prevents corrosion from acidic and alkaline media, maintaining a long-term seal in the stuffing box.

There are plenty of chloride ions in marine environments, and numerous microscopic gaps between the valve stem and guide sleeve come into contact, causing crevice corrosion. Our 316L valve stems contain molybdenum, which effectively inhibits pitting and crevice corrosion and prevents the valve stem from seizing after being closed for several months.

At the −196°C of liquefied natural gas, valve stems are usually manufactured thinner and more prone to fracture. However, our 304/316L valve stems do not exhibit cold brittleness due to their stable internal structure. Furthermore, we subject the valve stems to a series of tests to ensure they possess excellent toughness under cryogenic and high-pressure conditions.

The food industry imposes very strict hygiene standards on valve stems, which must never contaminate the liquids transported inside the valve body. Our stainless steel valve stems feature a passivation film on their surfaces, preventing the leaching of iron ions that could contaminate the liquid, thereby guaranteeing absolute purity of the food inside.

Using HEXAGON coordinate measuring machines and CNC machines, we can consistently maintain the full-length coaxiality of our valve stems at ≤0.03 mm. If you require higher precision, we can further control the coaxiality to ≤0.02 mm.
Under high-temperature solution heat treatment, the impact energy of our 304 and 316L stainless steel valve stems at normal temperature can exceed 100 J; for a cryogenic environment at -196°, the impact energy remains above 80 J.
We use precision CNC machines to harden the threaded surfaces and improve thread surface finish. For high-torque applications, we offer anti-seizing treatments such as nitriding to prevent cold welding and seizing during operation.
