Pump Motor Housing Foundry in China

As a professional investment casting foundry in China, we are committed to providing you with custom, fully machined pump motor housings made of 304/316L (CF8/CF3M) stainless steel that offer high precision, standard dimensional tolerances, high corrosion resistance, and high airtightness. Over the past 27 years, we have established long-term, stable partnerships with nine companies, achieving an annual output value of $8 million.

We have also helped numerous clients resolve issues related to pump motor housings. For example, by optimizing the gating system, we have addressed the problem of cooling fins being too thin, which previously led to insufficient filling and adversely affected both appearance and heat dissipation.

If you are facing similar design challenges or looking to optimize your next project, contact us today to discuss your custom requirements.

Why do you need pump motor housings made from 304/316L stainless steel?

Corrosion Resistance
Corrosion Resistance

The passivation film on the stainless steel surface effectively protects the pump motor housing from corrosive media, and the 316L grade significantly reduces the probability of intergranular corrosion and pitting corrosion. Effectively prevents rust on the pump motor housing.

Non-Magnetic
Non-Magnetic

Both 304 and 316L are austenitic stainless steels and are non-magnetic after solution heat treatment. When the motor generates a strong magnetic field, the pump motor housing made of these materials will not interfere with internal operation, ensuring system efficiency.

high toughness
High Toughness

304 and 316L stainless steel possess exceptional impact toughness, so pump motor housings made of these materials will sustain only minor dents when struck, ensuring the internal motor continues to operate even under such conditions.

High Sanitary Standards
High Sanitary

304 and 316L are materials certified to meet FDA/3A sanitary standards. Their smooth, bacteria-resistant surfaces ensure that the pump motor housings made of them do not leach iron ions that could contaminate the medium and can withstand frequent cleaning.

Precision Geometric Control

The pump motor housing has extremely strict dimensional tolerance requirements. If the coaxiality of the housing’s inner bore, the spigot fit, and the bearing bores is not precise, the internal motor can easily rub against the housing and catch fire. We use HEXAGON coordinate measuring machines to ensure that the coaxiality of these three components is within 0.03 mm. This allows your motor to run more smoothly and quietly while eliminating high-frequency electromagnetic noise at the source, resulting in a quiet pump casing.

Precision Geometric Control
Standard Material Control

Standard Material Control

Changes in the composition of stainless steel directly affect the properties of pump motor housings. If the molybdenum or ferrite content is not precisely controlled, the corrosion resistance and the non-magnetic properties of stainless steel pump motor housings will be significantly reduced. We use a spectrometer to ensure that the internal material meets specifications both before casting and after heat treatment, ensuring that the properties of the stainless steel pump motor housing remain unaffected. This greatly reduces the possibility of motor shutdowns caused by rust or electromagnetic heating, which could otherwise affect pump operation.

Rigorous Quality Assurance

Without rigorous quality inspection, pump motor housings may develop numerous quality issues during operation, including leaks, motor burnout, and sudden fractures. We conduct 100% airtightness testing, hydraulic testing, and non-destructive testing on all cast pump motor housings to ensure that the castings are free of internal defects such as shrinkage, porosity, and hot cracks. This guarantees the pump motor housing’s excellent airtightness and toughness. Through rigorous quality assurance, we can minimize quality risks before shipment and prevent sudden fractures and significant financial losses for you.

Diverse Applications for Stainless Steel Pump Motor Housing

Submersible Industry
Submersible Industry

In the submersible industry, the pump motor housing must be fully submerged in water along with the pump body. If it is made of iron, it will rust quickly. Our stainless steel pump motor housing, with its corrosion resistance and our 100% airtightness testing, effectively prevents internal motor electrical leakage caused by corrosion.

Chemical Industry
Chemical Industry

In the chemical industry, pump castings are used to transport highly corrosive liquids; therefore, the pump motor housings are also exposed to corrosion from chemicals in the air. Our 316L pump motor housings offer exceptional corrosion resistance, ensuring that the motors remain integrity exposure to these corrosive chemicals.

Food Industry
Food Industry

In the food industry, pump motor housings must withstand rigorous sanitization while maintaining high surface purity. Our stainless steel pump motor housing meets the highest hygiene standards, and the passivation film ensures the surface does not react with disinfectants, thereby avoiding food contamination.

Marine Industry
Marine Industry

Pump motor housings used in ballast or fire pumps on offshore drilling platforms are constantly exposed to seawater; ordinary metal pump motor housings would quickly rust. Our 316L pump motor housings offer exceptional resistance to pitting corrosion, completely preventing seawater corrosion and ensuring the motor operates successfully.

  • In the past, the quality of the pump motor housings supplied by the foundry we worked with was always inconsistent, and we didn’t even know if they conducted any quality inspections. Until we started working with Pingheng Machinery, we noticed that they included a quality inspection report with every shipment of castings. The quality of their castings far exceeded my expectations and significantly extended our maintenance intervals.

  • Cooperating with Pingheng Machinery is very comfortable. All we have to do is provide the drawings, and they handle everything, including mold development, machining, and even surface treatment. We don’t have to worry about anything, and I think we’ll continue working together for a long time.

Q1. What is the difference between 304 and 316 pump motor housing?

They are all austenitic stainless steels. The main difference between them is that 316 stainless steel contains 2%-3% molybdenum, which gives the 316 pump motor housing greater resistance to pitting corrosion than 304. 316L is an ultra-low-carbon variant of 316; it does not exhibit carbide precipitation at high temperatures, thereby reducing the possibility of corrosion in a pump motor housing made from it and ensuring maximum sealing and durability during long-term operation.

Q2. Do you accept small-batch custom orders?

Yes, we offer 3D rapid prototyping services for efficient small-batch customization of pump motor housing, with delivery within 7–10 days.

Q3. What is the thinnest possible thickness for the cooling fins in the pump motor housings you manufacture?

Using the investment casting process, while ensuring a high yield rate and uniform wall thickness, the cooling fins in our pump motor housings can be manufactured with a thickness of 2.0- 2.5 mm.

Q4. Motors generate heat during operation. Why is stainless steel with a low thermal conductivity used to manufacture pump motor housings?

This is because pump motor housings are typically used in submersible pumps and other pump castings that have direct contact with liquid. Water-cooling is more efficient than air convection cooling. Furthermore, through expendable mold casting in the investment casting process, we can cast thin cooling fins onto the housing. This increases the contact area between the housing and the flowing water, greatly compensating for the low thermal conductivity of stainless steel.

Q5. What is the average lead time for your pump motor housing?

We use a one-stop customization service, from mold design and fabrication to CNC machining. In this process, our pump motor housings are typically delivered within 45 days.
