Investment Casting FAQ

Investment Casting FAQ

General Questions

Why is Pingheng Machinery a one-stop investment casting foundry?

In the early stage of factory construction, we were just an investment casting foundry that only produced rough castings. In 2005, we had one customer who was engaged in the automotive industry; they hoped we could provide finished automotive castings. We added CNC machining equipment in 2008 to meet our customers’ requirements. As time goes on, we constantly improve ourselves to meet the various needs of our customers.

What the production capacity of your factory?

Our factory covers an area of 9000 square meters and has 150 workers. We can produce 2400 tons of castings annually.

What materials of investment castings can you produce?

We can cast a variety of stainless steels and copper alloys. Such as:
1. Stainless steel casting

  • SS 304 casting
  • CF8 stainless steel
  • 316 stainless steel casting
  • 316L stainless steel casting
  • 17-4 ph stainless steel casting
  • CF8M casting
  • CF3M casting

2. Copper Base Alloys

  • Bronze investment casting
  • Tin bronze casting
  • Leaded bronze casting
  • Phosphor bronze casting
  • Casting silicon bronze
  • C86500 manganese bronze
  • C93200 bronze
  • C83600
  • C84400
  • Brass casting

Etc.

Is my product suitable for using lost wax process?

If your casting has a complex shape, less machining allowance, tight dimensional tolerance, and strict requirements for surface finish, it may be suitable for the lost wax process.

What are the investment castings used for?

There are numerous industrial uses for precision cast parts. Many investment castings can be found in gas & oil, pump, valve (wedge gate valve/slab gate valve/ball valve/globe valve/cock valve/butterfly valve/plug valve/bottom valve/cut-off valve/check valve), food machinery, agriculture, electric power, automotive, and other industries.

Does your factory has mold development capabilities?

Yes, we have mold opening capabilities.

Most of the casting molds are created by our factory. For molds with high precision requirements, we will work with our long-term cooperative mold factory to develop together to make sure every mold can meet customer’s requirements.

How long will it take to complete my order?

Generally, after the casting part sample is approved, the lead time for bulk orders is around 20-25 days (casting: 15 days, machining: 5-10 days). The detailed lead time depends on the difficulty of the product’s manufacturing process and the current production schedule.

Technical Question

What about the tolerance of your precision casting?

In general, our precision casting tolerance is CT6-CT8. This varies depending on the size and complexity of the investment casting parts.

Why do many data show that the tolerance of investment casting is CT4-CT6? Does this mean your casting ability is not so good since your precision casting dimension tolerance is CT6-CT8?

Certainly not!

CT6-CT8 are our general casting tolerances. Based on our past 20 years casting expereince, CT4 dimension tolerance normally can be achieved in some smaller size castings or part position of castings.

Therefore, we need to analyze based on the drawing rather than simply saying that we can do CT4-CT6 casting tolerance.

With a rigorous and responsible attitude, our technical department will review the drawing you provide and give you a satisfactory reply.

What is the minimum wall thickness you can achieve?

The min wall thickness we can make is 2.5-3mm.

What is the weight range of investment casting parts that you can manufacture?

The weight range of investment casting parts we can make is 0.01KG-100KG (0.022 pound-220 pounds).

Sales Question

How can I get an accurate quotation?

We’re the investment casting foundry that provides OEM service. So we don’t have the existing price list that can be provided. If you want to customize your castings, the information below can help us provide the quotation with detailed information to you earlier.

How long will I get a casting part sample/prototype?

We will rush production on the first sample/prototypes of your casting part based on your design drawing.

We aim to complete the mold in 10-15 days, take 10 days to cast, and make sure the machining process can be finished within 5 days.

How long will it take to complete my order?

Generally, after the casting part sample is approved, the lead time for bulk orders is around 20-25 days (casting: 15 days, machining: 5-10 days). The detailed lead time depends on the difficulty of the product’s manufacturing process and the current production schedule.

Can you provide test reports for each batch of goods? What is your testing equipment?

Yes, we can provide a chemical composition report, size report, heat treatment report, and mechanical performance report for each batch.
