OEM 304 Stainless Steel Investment Casting Foundry in China

304 stainless steel (an austenitic steel alloy) is a common stainless steel material with a density of 7.93 g/cm³. It’s also known as “18-8 “stainless steel, meaning it contains approximately 18% chromium and 8% nickel.

Pingheng Machinery has over 20 years of casting experience in producing 304 stainless steel investment casting. We are very familiar with the characteristics of SS 304 material and are very good at manufacturing various complex 304 precision castings for our customers.

The 304 SS casting we produced is widely used in food processing, pumps, valves, automotive, marine, pipe fittings, hardware, and other industries.

The chromium and nickel elements contained in stainless steel make it easier to handle and shape during the welding process.

Wide Applications of 304 SS investment Castings

304 stainless steel casting is an extremely versatile investment casting alloy used across hundreds of industries. For example:

Food processing industry: Wear resistance and cleanliness are crucial in food processing. Therefore, 304 stainless steel investment casting is an excellent choice for mills, refrigeration, mixers, and more precision casting components.

Automotive industry: The exhaust system is the most common application of 304 stainless steel castings in automobiles, covering stainless steel components such as exhaust pipes, mufflers, and catalytic converter housings. The reason is that it can cope with high-temperature corrosion and vibration conditions of the exhaust system. Pingheng Machinery has many years of casting experience in the automotive industry.

SS 316 vs SS 304 : Which Stainless Steel Casting is Better?

The primary difference between 304 and 316 stainless steel is that 316 stainless steel contains molybdenum. This enhances 316’s corrosion resistance. Therefore, if your products frequently come into contact with chemicals or marine environments, custom 316 stainless steel investment castings may be a better choice.

However, if your product doesn’t require extreme corrosion resistance, 304 stainless steel castings are a practical and economical option.

The decision between 304 and 316 stainless steel precision casting depends on your specific application.

What’s the Difference Between Material Grade SS 304 and SS 304L?

304L stainless steel is an ultra-low carbon version of the SS 304 steel alloy. Its maximum carbon content is 0.03%, which is significantly lower than the 0.08% maximum carbon content of 304 stainless steel. 304L minimizes harmful carbide precipitation during welding, making it ideal for manufacturing metal parts exposed to salt water, such as nuts and bolts.

Will 304 Stainless Steel Casting Rust?

While 304 stainless steel investment casting is corrosion-resistant and won’t rust under normal atmospheric conditions, it can corrode and rust in corrosive, chloride-containing environments (such as seawater). Pingheng Machinery performs a pickling and passivation surface treatment on 304 stainless steel castings to enhance their corrosion resistance. For extremely harsh corrosive environments, 316 stainless steel castings may be considered as an alternative.
